Pharmaceuticals Influence on Phragmites australis Phytoremediation Potential in Cu Contaminated Estuarine Media

چکیده

The aim of the present work was to evaluate influence two different pharmaceutical compounds (bezafibrate and paroxetine) on phytoremediation potential Phragmites australis in an estuarine medium contaminated by copper. Plants were exposed for seven days a simplified medium, elutriate solution, with or without sediment. doped copper bezafibrate paroxetine. P. plants able accumulate significant amount Cu, particularly their roots (600 250 times increase levels absence presence sediment, respectively), corroborating phytostabilization salt marsh plants. Metal uptake translocation significantly lower sediment (Cu leaves increased 20 only 4 sediment). An effect either compound metal accumulation not observed (levels Cu tissues general identical) but, both paroxetine changed solubility decreasing increasing it. current study highlights possible contaminants characteristics (inorganic organic contaminants) can have long run, effects pollutants might environment.

Note Common Reed Phragmites Australis Occurrence and Adjacent Land Use along Estuarine Shoreline in Chesapeake Bay

We completed a shoreline survey of Phragmites occurrence and adjacent land use along more than 8,400 km of shoreline in the Maryland and Virginia portions of the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries. Phragmites occurred along 14.6% of Maryland estuarine shoreline in the mid-to-upper portion of Chesapeake Bay, but along only 2.0% of the surveyed Virginia shoreline in the mid-to-lower portion...

Detoxification of herbicides in Phragmites australis.

Unintentional loss of herbicides into drainage ditches, shores or other waterbodies may cause large problems in farmland. Therefore strategies for the phytoremediation of agrochemicals and especially herbicides have become a topic of great interest in many agricultural areas. However, in order to establish effective biological pollution control, information on the detoxification capacity of rip...

Positive Effects of Nonnative Invasive Phragmites australis on Larval Bullfrogs

BACKGROUND Nonnative Phragmites australis (common reed) is one of the most intensively researched and managed invasive plant species in the United States, yet as with many invasive species, our ability to predict, control or understand the consequences of invasions is limited. Rapid spread of dense Phragmites monocultures has prompted efforts to limit its expansion and remove existing stands. M...

Role of Phragmites Australis for Biomonitoring and Phytoremediation of Heavy Metals Pollution in Badavar River, Lorestan Province (Iran)

Background & Aims of the Study: Aquatic macrophytes, given their rapid growth and high bio mass production, great potential to accumulate heavy metals in their organs. Phragmites australis as a hyper-cumulative plant plays an important role in the bioremediation. The Badavar River of Noorabad, Lorestan province, is exposed to urban wastewater and agricultural runoffs. In order to heavy metals (...
